X6 with Heart Rate Monitor Suunto Sport Watch

Just when you thought a sports watch couldn't get any better, Suunto introduces the X6 HR, X6 HRM, and X6-HRT (new for Fall 2004). These are truly the next generation in sports watches packed with all of the technology that Suunto enthusiasts have been craving. Designed for "Cross Sports" applications, the X6 HR, X6 HRM, and X-6 HRT are functionally very similar to the Suunto X6 - but with the added benefits of a heart rate monitor. Utilizing a cell-phone like interface, Suunto has simplified the process of navigating though the multitude of functions, with intuitive graphical displays and scrolling menu systems.

What is the difference between the X6-HR, the X6-HRM, and the X6-HRT watches?

The primary difference is in the watch casing. The X6-HR has a plastic body, while the HRM and HRT both feature a durable and attractive metal case, making them "dressier" watches, as well as slightly heavier. The HRM's metal casing is stainless steel, whereas the HRT features a titanium body, with a scratch-resistant coating. The HRT also comes with a titanium-link elastomer band (rather than plain elastomer) and has a slightly different face - a brighter LCD with a white dial around it. All three watches are built with identical technology and features.

The X6-HR, X6-HRM and the X6-HRT watches each sport an Altimeter, Barometer, Thermometer, Compass, Watch, and Heart Rate Monitor. Your data is PC Downloadable so you can record, track, and analyze all of your vital information ( via serial port, USB adapter available - no support for Macintosh). Once your data is downloaded to your PC, it can be analyzed with the included software, and uploaded to SuuntoSports.com, where you can refine, share, and compare your data with fellow Suunto enthusiasts. A truly unique experience only available for the newest Suunto watches.

What really sets the X6 HR-series watches apart from other heart rate monitor watches is the monitor belt. In the past, Suunto has utilized Polar® technology for their heart rate monitors. However, Suunto wanted to improve accuracy and functionality, so they brought it in-house. The result is wireless communication with a graphic profile of heart rate, display of average/highest/lowest rate, memory capacity for different intervals, interval reminder, and the battery is consumer replaceable.

In 2003, The X6 was named by Outdoor Magazine as Gear of the Year
